Easter eggs made of salt

Beautiful and unique Easter eggs made of salt are presented on a exhibition in the Saltworks Castle. They were made during the 12th edition of fine art competition entitled "The most beautiful salty Easter egg" on April 15th, 2011. It's the only competition of making Salty Easter Eggs in the world
Decorated Easter eggs are an old magic symbol which, during our times, is a continuation of a beautiful tradition and can sometimes become a small work of art and a delightful gift. Easter eggs symbolize nature waking up to life and in Christianity they are associated with hope. During the competition, children and young people prepare beautiful Easter eggs on the basis of eggs made of salt. Ninety-nine participants from primary, middle and high schools of the Małopolska, Podkarpackie and Śląskie Provinces took part in this year's competition. Salty Easter eggs created during the competition were decorated with various techniques: painted, covered with colour paper, wrapped in bulrush, crewel, fabric, sequins, covered with rice, kasha and beads. Most wonderful Easter eggs were awarded with prizes; distinction was also given to these eggs which were decorated in the most original manner, also with designs characteristic for the regions from which their creators come from.
