10th Feast of Salt with International Accents

A display of 17th century salt works, “Salty Heptathlon” and “Laughter Therapy” workshops are the attractions of this year’s “Feast of Salt.” An exceptional accent will be participation of representatives of Italy, Ukraine, Greece and Romania.
The Cracow Saltworks Museum in Wieliczka heartily welcome to the “Feast of Salt” which will take place on June 3, 2012 between 9.30 a.m. and 7.30 p.m.

We will play with salt, become acquainted with its history and present-day uses. At the courtyard of the Saltworks Castle, the following workshops will operate: potter’s, cooper’s, rope maker’s and smith’s – important for procurement of salt and, exceptionally this year, a wickerwork workshop. There will also be salt producers.

We would like to invite entire families; for adults, we propose visit at an exhibition entitled “Salty Satire”, a trip along the route of former shafts and cinema shows. Children will have a lot of attractions to choose from: “a rope ride” from the castle donjon, playing with salt dough, competitions, as well as paper and art workshops. On the other hand, teenagers can compete in the first outdoor game devoted to salt: “Salty Heptathlon.”

The 10th edition of the Feast of Sal will be international: special guests will be representatives of Italy and Ukraine. Young people from Romania and Greece will also present their projects. The event will be accompanied by lively concerts of such bands as Pancakes, Coffee Break, and Kapela z Mietniowa. There will also be traditional Polish cuisine dishes. You are heartily welcome to celebrate with us and deepen your knowledge about the “gold of the Middle Ages.”
