Galicia Jewish Museum - programme of events - June and July 2012

Information about events in the Galicia Jewish Museum during the XXII Festival of Jewish Culture (29.06.2012-08.07.2012) is available in a specially dedicated programme. During the Festival the Museum will be open daily from 9.00-20.00.

Join Beit Krakow, the local Progressive Jewish community, for Kabbalat Shabbat services held at the Galicia Jewish Museum and led by Rabbi Tanya Segal.

Concert: DiGalitzyaner Klezmorim

The band Di Galitzyaner Klezmorim's compositions are based on traditional klezmer music, bringing out elements they find most important to give their work its unique character

The second edition of the Night of the Synagogues

The Galicia Jewish Museum starts the night at 22:00 with dance workshops. "Dance Me to the End of Love" led by the Israeli dance group Kachol. Later we invite you to an audiovisual event: the fusion of klezmer music and reggae complete with fantastic visuals.

"Was Zionism popular among Jews in pre-war Kraków?"

The Jewish community in pre-war Kraków followed new thoughts and ideas, not only cultural and social, but also political. Zionism was one of them. Was Zionism an influential concept among Jews in the city, where the "New Journal" was issued? If so - how and on what scale?

The meeting is combined with the promotion of a catalogue for the exhibition "Poland and Palestine: Two Lands and Two Skies.

The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Edyta Gawron, from the Centre for the Study on the History and Culture of Krakow Jews at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.

David Koker's diary is one of the most notable accounts of life in a German concentration camp written by a Jew during the years of the Holocaust.
