Happy Eighth Birthday Galicia Jewish Museum

It's the Galicia Jewish Museum's eighth birthday! So to celebrate, we invite you to come and join us for this special occasion.  We have lots of attractions on offer throughout the month of April.

Win a gift!  Every visitor will be able to take part in our special birthday lottery. All you have to do is visit us, toss your ticket into the lottery urn, sit back and wait to see if you have won. Winners will be announced on the 28th April. Prizes include books, concert tickets and other surprises. Come and play our birthday lottery - it is free.

Wish us a happy birthday by recording your good wishes with our specially prepared camera. Or, if you wish, you can send us your own happy birthday wishes. All birthday messages will be collected and shown on our website.

About history but not only... is a series of workshops and meetings for teenagers 14-18 years old organized as part of the Museum Means More programme. We will offer meetings with witnesses to history, experts on various subjects, lectures, workshops, presentations. We invite individuals as well as whole school classes.

Kabbalat Shabbat

Join Beit Krakow, the local Progressive Jewish community, for Kabbalat Shabbat services held at the Galicia Jewish Museum and led by Rabbi Tanya Segal.

Concert: DiGalitzyaner Klezmorim

The band Di Galitzyaner Klezmorim's compositions are based on traditional klezmer music, bringing out elements they find most important to give their work its unique character. The poetic, melancholy melodies are intertwined with passion, ecstasy and spontaneity, creating a space filled with a wide range of colours and emotions. The band's repertoire includes compositions based on old klezmer melodies as well as original works.

Family Sunday

Where did the tradition of colouring and decorating the eggs come from? How can you decorate Easter eggs? What was the original purpose of Easter eggs? Learn the answers and have fun hand colouring the eggs.

About history but not only... - meeting for teenagers with the Witness to History

We'd like to invite you to an open meeting with Mr. Józef Rosołowski, Warsaw Uprising participant and former prisoner of Mauthausen Nazi concentration camp. Mr. Rosołowski is the President of the Board of the Kracow District of the Polish Association of Former Political Prisoners of Nazi Prisons and Concentration Camps.

Saturday Mornings in the Museum

What would happen if everyone in the world spoke the same language? Is it possible to form an international language? Have you ever heard of Esperanto? For the occasion of the 95th anniversary of Ludwik Zamenhoff's death we'd like to invite everyone to learn the basics of the Esperanto language.

Saturday Mornings in the Museum are part of the Museum Means More programme, financed by the Dutch Jewish Humanitarian Fund.

Lecture: Esperanto - language of the world?

The Galicia Jewish Museum invites you to a lecture on the language of Esperanto and Esperanton society. The lecture will focus on the numerous oddities of this unique language and we will teach you its basics in a quick and concise manner.

About history but not only... - Israel Independence Day

From Krakow to Eretz Israel - come to know the incredible photographs of Ze'ev Aleksandrowicz and breathe in the atmosphere of Krakow and Tel Aviv in the 1930s; find the differences and similarities. We invite you for a tour of the exhibition Poland and Palestine: Two Lands and Two Skies followed by a lesson in the museum.

Saturday Mornings in the Museum

It's Galicia Jewish Museum's eighth birthday! We'd like to invite other eight year-olds and all those older (and younger) to decorate our birthday cake and birthday muffins. After the sweet workshop everyone will have an opportunity to have a bite!

International Dance Day

Everyone dances sometimes - during a party, in front of a mirror or even when cleaning up. Dance is a source of joy and is good for our health and psyche. Dance away this Sunday with us. Come to Plac Wolnica and learn about different dance techniques and styles and listen to the music that makes your feet do crazy things!
