The Contemporary Art Gallery Bunkier Sztuki (commonly: the Bunker) has been the greatest city gallery in Lesser Poland and Poland since 1994. During the 14 years of its activity, the Gallery acquired a new identity. It became a forum for the new media and gained a new, young public. Own productions, exhibitions promoting young Polish artists, preparation of exhibitions at other locations, artistic exchanges, establishing cooperation with new partners, organising conferences and lectures, inviting for discussion the international circle of artists, custodians, critics and animators of artistic life, finally the location of the bunker within an international network of cultural organisations and institutions – became the current activity of the gallery. The current programme of the Bunker is concentrated around the presentation of issues of modern art that are related to creative activity of young artists whose works are ahead of the current trends and questions of 21st century art, as well as artists of the middle generation, who perfect the art of our times. The gallery carries out its own custodian projects, runs a residential programme and creates a collection of modern art. It includes the works of, among others: R. Bujnowski, O. Breuning, B. Burska, T. Ciecierski, O. Dawicki, M. Deskur, W. Doroszuk, E. Dwurnik, K. Górna, A. Janicki, A. Kaufmann, K. Kowalska, L. Krawczyk & W. Kubiak, P. Książek, P. Lutyński, M. Maciejowski, M. Markiewicz, J. Robakowski, W. Sasnal (pictured), J. Sawicka, W. Shawky, J. Simon, Ł. Skapski, M. Smoczyński, M. Sobczyk, K. Wodiczko, and A. Żebrowska.
