The Museum of Municipal Engineering is located in a 100-yearold tramway depot at 15 św. Wawrzyńca St. It is one of the youngest museums in Krakow. It was founded by the Municipality of the City of Krakow in 1998. The primary goals of the Museum are to: gather, process, document and provide technical, technological, industrial and municipal engineering monuments. The collections cover the history of mass communication in Krakow, the history of Polish motorised transport, municipal engineering, sound and picture reproduction technologies, household appliance technologies, office technologies, as well as craft and industry.
The Museum has three permanent exhibitions: “the history of Polish motorised transport”, “Krakow’s printing industry between the 15th and 19th century”, and “Fun with science” – an interactive exhibition comprising approximately 40 posts, where anyone can perform simple experiments from the field of natural and physical sciences. One can learn the properties of magnesium, and gain insight into bridge building or ecological ways of producing electric energy. At this exposition visitors are both learning and having fun.
