The Hipolit House dates from the fourteenth century. The name comes from the wealthy merchants who were its owners in the sixteenth century. The building contains one of only a few museum of burgher interiors in Poland. It presents the material culture and the history of everyday life and customs of Krakow's patrician class.

The permanent exhibition, the "Burgher Home”, is on the first and second floors. It shows the decor of residential interiors from the seventeenth through nineteenth centuries. On the first floor there are a few rooms on display: an eighteenth century study, another study decorated with Bathazar Fontana’s stucco and polychromy in the Rococo style. Following those are bedrooms from the eighteenth century with inlaid furnishings in the Chippendale style, and afterward a drawing room furnished with various items in a range of styles. The largest of the spaces is the collector’s room, who accumulated various artworks including furnishings, paintings, glasses, and most of all, clocks. The collection of clocks is one Poland’s largest and contains many rarities. On the second floor of the townhouse we see the apartment of a wealthy Krakow family. Its centre is the lavishly decorated dining room, with a classically nineteenth-century tendency to excessive accumulation of objects. The salon is furnished similarly. On the other hand, the master bedroom is a more intimate setting.  The grandmother’s room has a somewhat old-world interior, full of knickknacks, filled with an air of nostalgia.
